Recent events in the senate have caused suspicions surrounding Republican Senators beliefs about the legitimacy of the 2020 elections, and what these beliefs have transpired to in terms of voting rights and state legislation. The turnout of the Jan. 6 commission in the senate serves to prove that many Republican senators have aligned their beliefs with those of the rioters at the capitol and are maintaining an ideology that demonizes and blames Democratic voters and leaders, and some red states are weaponizing this ideology through voting legislation.
